Looking at Old Town through Pictures

Student Reporters Workshop

This workshop was held along with Dr Sara Smith from the University of North Carolina; she was assisted by Stanzin Tonyot, a PhD student in Anthropology at the University of Arizona.

Twenty-five children, resident in Old Town, in the age group of 10 to 18 years were invited to participate in a three day workshop that focused on their neighbourhood.  They learnt how to use digital cameras and take pictures through which they explored the past, present and future life in their neighbourhood.  At the end of the workshop an exhibition of their work was held at LAMO to which their parents and members of the community were invited.  The children spoke about their work and their aspirations for the future.
